Do the right thing. Do the thing right. Both are important
Goh Keng Swee was known to wash his own underwear in the hotel bathroom because he found the hotel laundry charges too expensive.

Not surprised he would find the MRT too expensive to build...when his generation of "gentleman bicycle" riders would find a bus already very fast. And in those days, buses did not even have air con.

Not sure if our recent problems are due to execution as you said, or technical issues or overload issues. I am not a technical man and can only wonder why.

I am sure the problems are not being looked into merely by some average maintenance staff whose job was to oil the plug, check the electrical whatever whatever...but by the builder i.e. the company which built this whole system and their top engineers would have already flown in???? And if there are software problems, even their IT people would have arrived by now. Even they cannot resolve the problems? Surprised

I find it senseless to keep blaming the minister for transport. The noises only create more stress for the workers. People may do this to get at the minister because well...they are anti-PAP, but I wonder if they realise that what they do online also affect the workers on the ground. If they care about the workers who are working 24/7 to resolve the problems, they should tone down their language, and give them some encouragement instead...

中国发明了超声聚焦手术刀还有无人采煤机。

These are new inventions: ultra sound surgical knife for treatment of cancer and also unmanned coal extraction machine, just to name two. Would anyone says it is copied? May be someone would say, unmanned machine? not new!!! And surgical knifves, oh they are in use in all hospitals!!! Rolling on the flor laughing

We should all feel reasonably proud of Chinese scientists and their inventions and the topping of the "Patents Filed" list for the last 2-3 years. These are great achievements but will take time to evolve from patents to products. I think the world has not seen the best of China's innovation. There are tens of thousands of Chinese scientists working overseas now and the most potent force that will propel China to greater heights is their capital formation regime, comprising private equity, venture capital and the Chinese entrepreneurs/bizmen/individuals penchant for taking a good bet on emerging technologies and entrepreneurs. When these act to become a pull factor for the overseas Chinese scientists to return home to launch their own enterprise, there will be an exponential boom in China's innovation in new and emerging technologies

In the meantime China is still paying catch-up with many other advanced countries and in the two technologies, they are followers not pioneers:

China being the top producer and consumer of coal is at the leading edge of coal mining technology. Other countries which have huge coal deposits are also in the forefront of trying to automate mining in the face of attendant dangers and numerous accidents and deaths in coal mines.

I did a random search and found that the first remotely/automated coal extraction machine was this:
"The first tele-operated manipulator for extraction of thin coal seams in deep mines was designed by M Thring (1971)....

List of China filed patents starting form 2011 on automated mining machines with quite a few of them related to machines for remote monitoring of safety in mines.

In the coming years, automation will change underground mining beyond all recognition. Nnamdi Anyadike examines some of the key innovations currently underway.

It is a long time since 1971 when the first remotely controlled automated extraction machine was designed but while the world has been moving China was also not sleeping and with the benefit of being the world's biggest consumer/producer of coal, they will be on target to push their technology to the forefront to be amongst the pack.

Those ang mo in the know like this ang mo is telling the truth of the amazing progress made in China and the "American First" policy of trade barriers, the termination of free trade agreements and the demand for protection money etc from a businessman's point of view seem right but will drive allied partners away. Singapore is right to distance itself from US. Germany may be asking US to dismantle the remaining 20 pieces of nuclear devices from Germany soon. Actually 130 pieces already removed from Germany.

US put thaads, which is for protection of US, in S Korea and Japan, Trump may be sending the bills to these puppets soon. Trump may follow with asking SK and Jap to renegotiate free trade deals cancelling away those clauses not in US favour heavily penalising the puppet followers.

So it is good for these 2 puppets to be knocked out first. On top of it, SK lose heavily the PRC tourists' money and is suffering double whammy blow. Good for them.

I know bro. I knew even if I asked you whether you would shout taidu while still in the stretcher in the hip deep water, you would surely say "yes" taiduwansui 台独万岁. That is why I didn't ask you that question.

For me, to tell you the truth, if I were in the stretcher, in my heart I would say 感恩 and I would be very touched by their help to me, a Singaporean Chinese.
