GO price is lower than IPO price, yet indofood shareholders clearly are not happy about this (indofood down ~10% today).

I wonder who got the bargain in the end?

GO by Indofood definitely save China Minzhong from a lot of troubles. It's a confidence vote from Idofood which will help China Minzhong avoid losing financial credibility with banks and finance companies.

Why they offer $1.12 when they can do nothing first, then quietly scoop up at half the price???

It's not worth buying a company which has lost banks' and finance companies' confidence.
Confidence and credibility are very important in the world of business.

Their action seem more on punishing the short seller than wanting to take the company private.

Its to save their investment, they already got nearly 30% in this thing before it blew up, the GO is effectively a "doubling-down" (or triple down) strategy.

Looking at the open price, they definitely fare better than Olam Big Grin

They already hold close to 30%. Once shareholding crosses 30%, they have to launch a takeover according to Singapore rules.

The GO price must also be not lower than the price paid in the last 12 months, so Innofoods has no chance to accumulate on the cheap.
