Open Letter: Did Keppel's independent directors do their jobs?

http://www.straitstimes.com/forum/letter...their-jobs

The recent articles on the Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O & M) corruption probe by associate editor Vikram Khanna and correspondent Grace Leong were very insightful (The scandal that ensnared Keppel, Jan 10; and To not bribe and yet bag deals is a challenge, Jan 7).

Keppel O & M earned more than $350 million from business corruptly obtained in Brazil.I wonder if its independent directors ever asked the board of Keppel Corp if there was any greasing or impropriety involved. If no one had asked that question, I think it is high time that the board resigns and its members are replaced.

There is no point in a company saying that it has checks and balances in place when nothing was done.

The role of the independent directors involves maintaining corporate credibility and ensuring good governance, including the disclosure of related party transactions. This has obviously failed.

Independent means you are not inner circle
But u get paid by same company for do nothing
If company they have independent division to look at complaints , the likelihood is bull s.hit
Do u know Singapore whistleblower law has little use ?
Because it is not there virtually, who dare going to tell u if someone corrupt, their whistleblower is a email link, a telephone number, there's no dedicated outsider manning it,
If u whistleblower something, it will make its way back to the person u complained, if u raised three items, only one item get recorded, then it will be dismissed as disgruntled employees making noise
This is the part never get audited, because no one want to get your hand dirty, if u found out boss chiak, will u say ? Or do u dare to say ?

The state media play with the word to cover the fact. (fake news)

Like the govt and keppel.

It is a 2 different entity under the same boss.

I do not believe that any Checks & Balance was ever done in any Stat Boards nor GLCs.

Because they only use Self- Praise by buying awards ie like SMRT case. Or just let the motion flow ie like WDA loosing $40M.

Otherwise, why Lucien Wong so free to go after Li ShengWu instead of doing jobs clearly stated in AGC website.

This is how they use elite power constitution political structure to support Ruler belief.

The claim and action is a 2 different thing use to support the ruler justice .  On ruler standard driven by 2 swfs. ..
