With a population of 4 times that of US,
it is difficult for China to lose a trade war.

Not only a strong domestic market, but a united one.
They can ban Apple by themselves,
even without govt encouragement.

That was for Q1, ending March 2019.. the US ban was around May 15.. let see the result after. Expect Q2 result to be affected but not so much.. The Q3 and Q4 results will see the result of the US ban.. Huawei's overall result might not be hit much because they have got China's 5G contracts but the phone sale oversea will see slumps

Huawei first-half revenue surges 23 per cent as China telecoms giant fights off US tech ban impact

Huawei has managed to boost sales despite the pressure it faces from a US trade ban, which has prevented it from buying American-made technology.

Huawei Technologies, the world’s largest telecommunications equipment vendor, said its revenue expanded by 23.2 per cent year-on-year in the first half of 2019, as the company battles the effects of being added to a US trade blacklist earlier this year.

The Shenzhen company generated revenue of 401.3 billion yuan (US$58.3 billion) in the first six months of the year, up from 325.7 billion yuan during the same period in 2018, thanks to a jump in smartphone shipments and robust demand for its 5G equipment, the company announced on Tuesday.

Quote:Chinese telecoms firm Huawei saw a sharp jump in revenue in the first half of the year but warned of "difficulties ahead".

The US blacklisted the firm in May, restricting its ability to trade with US companies.

Company revenue jumped 23% in the first half of the year versus a year ago, while smartphone shipments surged 24%.

Huawei has been under global scrutiny for allegedly posing a security risk - a claim it rejects.

Several countries have raised concerns that Huawei equipment could be used by China for surveillance, although the company has vehemently denied the allegations.

In June, Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei said international sales of the firm's handsets had sunk 40% in the past month and said the firm expected this to have an impact on annual revenue of up to $30bn (£24.9bn).
