He will skip town and could even return with a different identity lah. Rich folks are the law, why would they want to be controlled by the very system created to protect them?? Lol

Guess most people are still too naive as sheep.

The lesson here is captured by the way you wrote "friend". And that is, we never nearly know whom we can trust.

Having said that, the judge at very least did reverse an earlier decision to allow him to go overseas to study which shows a certain impartiality in how our courts work.

Otherwise, netizens will be saying that the accused was the son of someone high up there, the powers that be, and that the judiciary was told to find some flimsy excuse to ignore new "information" (below), or that the judge was scare to offend someone, yadda yadda.

Quote:In the messages, the accused talked about a "masterplan" involving seeking asylum in another country.

In one of the messages, he said: "I could stay here, but that would be a certain metaphorical death."

When the friend asked if he was certain he would be granted asylum, he replied: "Well, that's in the masterplan."

He also talked about a "decision-making rubric". "Stay for certain destruction... Or leave, and everything is uncertain, but potentially averting this problem," he told the friend.

Quote:As this suggested that the accused is a flight risk, the judge revoked permission granted earlier for the accused to leave Singapore to resume his studies.

Singapore is too small. Many people know him. It's not like the US where one can work for the FBI in some dangerous mission, and later be given a new identity....new name, new driving license, new credit cards, and even have a job arranged for him, and move from Los Angeles to California, or from New York to Colorado.
