well, I thought meant that when you mentioned "...they will depreciate RMB to make china good slightly 'cheaper'...very nice....RMB.

Sounds kinda oxymoron to see that a depreciated RMB due to market reaction to Trump's tariff war can actually have a reverse situation that it actually help Chinese products to be more competitive. Big Grin

Oh, before you accuse me of "said" that, the market is already reacting ahead of the Friday tariff promised by Trump. The same thing happened to RMB last year during the 1st round of tariff.

these are import duty...just tax accordingly....then china good & products are not competitive, too expensive....all will avoid to buy china good or importers will stop import from china if low demand....
at the same time....many factories & foreign companies already started to move out of china, not only US companies moving out, Japan, taiwan, korea, Europe companies all move out of china........china will lose tons of jobs, tons of jobless in china.....china trade down, import/export down, GDP down.....or they will depreciate RMB to make china good slightly 'cheaper'...very nice....RMB, china stock, HSI, HKD & many more.....how? dive down? have not started 25%, SSE down almost 10% in last few days....RMB also plunges down.....
such commonsense, what to shout?...... Rolling on the flor laughing thumbs up

I am curious how does a weaken RMB will make Chinese-made imports "not competitive, too expensive" for the Americans consumer?

This is one LIE that even Trump economic advisor Larry Kudlow cannot defend.
He was forced to admit on TV, none other than pro-Trump Fox Channel. Laughing

Host asked Larry: "Larry, that isn't true. It's not China that pays tariffs. It's the American importers, the American companies that pay what in effect is a tax increase and oftentimes passes it on to U.S. consumers. ". Big Grin

Who knows, maybe Trump and co. wants massive inflation in the US to justify fed raising rates that will affect world financial markets? Next manufactured black swan event? Anyone been taking leveraged positions of derivatives on interest rates lately?
