Cases are increasing in a majority of states, particularly in the northern midwest, including the Dakotas, Montana and Wisconsin – where Donald Trump was due to stage a rally on Saturday night.

This week alone, the US has averaged 55,000 new cases a day, a 60% increase compared with mid-September. And it latest numgers rose last Friday to 68,000 aday.

Officials in Utah, Missouri and Indiana have indicated some hospitals are starting to be overwhelmed.

In Wisconsin, new cases reached 4,100 on Friday, a record high. The state has set up overflow hospital facilities where Trump is trying to his best to win n or narrow Biden growing winning gap.

Mr. Trump’s longstanding criticism of Ms. Whitmer is particularly freighted b'cos, according to F.B.I., an armed group this summer plotted to kidnap her. Ms. Whitmer said, she remains worried about the presence of right-wing groups in Michigan, as well as Mr. Trump’s reluctance to condemn them.

Trump egged them on. “Are we having a good time?” he told his audiences.

His rally, like the earlier one in Michigan, Trump emphasized law and order, while egging on his ultra-right n accusing the left of destroying American life on Biden.
